MKRUGGERFEST to be MK's biggest rugby festival ever

Date Posted:16/03/2017

For the second consecutive year MKRUFC will be hosting MKRUGGERFEST at its home in Emerson Valley. Now one of the greatest Rugby 7s festivals in the centre of England, MKRUGGERFEST offers a brilliant line up of local music artists throughout the weekend, food and beers from around the world and fun for all the family. This year will also be the first year to feature a camping village off site, boasting luxury Tipi’s, Yurts and Tents.

The event will take place at Emerson Valley Sports Pavilion on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June 2017 and will appear on the MK50 programme as the biggest rugby festival EVER in Milton Keynes. With over 50 men's, ladies, open and social rugby teams from around the country, including several top grade professional rugby 7s players, the event is the biggest Rugby event the town has seen outside of the Rugby World Cup in 2015.

MKRUGGERFEST will also be doing its part for charity as they partner up with Willen Hospice to raise awareness and money for the local organisation. MKRUFC have been a proud supporter of Willen Hospice for many years and each MKRUGGERFEST is continually geared to raising money for not only for the volunteer run Rugby Club itself but also for the well known local charity.

Andrew Flowers, MKRUGGERFEST organiser, comments, “MKRUGGERFEST was born out of the annual 7s tournament that has been running for 20+ years. We wanted to expand the event to not only create a great family day out but to also bring the local community together, which we are even more pleased to be doing during Milton Keynes 50th birthday year.”

He continues, “This year's event will be bigger than ever as we launch new acts, food vendors and our RUGGERFEST camping village. And as always we are honoured to be doing our bit to raise money for Willen Hospice, which is a great local charity.”
