Get a taste of the official MK50 Birthday Cake
Everyone is invited to come along to the cutting of the official MK50 birthday cake on the 22 January at Middleton Hall.
The cake is a true show stopper at 6ft by 4ft and is a highlight of the MK50 Birthday weekend celebrations on the 20 -23 January.
Created by local cake maker Karrin Simpson, the cake is not only huge but will also reflect the essence of Milton Keynes.
Adorning the masterpiece will be replicas of Milton Keynes’ landmark buildings, the local industry, popular green spaces, key stakeholders and personalities and of course, the concrete cows!
The cake will be made from fantastic and interesting ingredients. These flavours include chocolate mud, curry, carrot cake, fruit, pear and ginger and more! Milton Keynes Cupcakery, John Lewis and professional and amateur cake decorators all supported the creation.
You can’t have a birthday cake without a ‘Happy Birthday’ tune and The Rock Chorus Choir will be at the event to sing and perform for one hour whilst slices of cake are given out to the crowd. Special guests will also be attending.
The cake will be built in Middleton Hall, Central Milton Keynes, on Friday 20 January and will remain on display until Sunday 22 January – when the cake will be tasted!
Cabinet Member Cllr Liz Gifford said: “There is a lot of hard work going into creating this cake and I am confident that it will be a great showcase - or showcake! - for Milton Keynes and be a centrepiece for our 50th birthday celebrations.”
