Celebrating Fifty Years of Milton Keynes

On 23rd January 2017, Milton Keynes celebrated its 50th anniversary marking the date of the Designation of the New Town.  To mark this momentous milestone, organisations, groups and businesses across the city have pulled together to create a programme of celebratory events for 2017 that are inspired by the past, present and future of Milton Keynes. The aim for the programme is to show off how great our city is, to take pride in our achievements and to celebrate our diversity.

This guide is the first of three that will be released to inform you about What’s On, what you can do and how you can get involved in MK50. This year, celebrate the birthday of Milton Keynes by coming along to events, exhibitions, parties, tours and trails, outdoor productions and exciting activities. There will be headline events throughout the year and opportunities to participate in making and workshops, as well as going out and exploring, or trying out a new sport or activity. Our year of celebration kicked off with the free Anniversary Exhibition 'A New City comes to Life' in Middleton Hall, telling the story of Milton Keynes from dinosaur bones to driverless cars.
